Voting Overseas
Voting while studying abroad
All U.S. citizens should be eligible to vote while studying abroad. You can vote from the address at which you last lived in the US, even if you do not have any current ties there. Click here to find out how to cast your vote.
Voting in your home country
Students may have options to vote in their countries of residency while studying here in the U.S. Some examples involve absentee ballots to complete and mail, and some involve traveling from Bates to a U.S. city to vote inside an Embassy or Consulate.
The Bates Center for Global Education Office (CGE) is interested to assist students with advice and ideas on travel, arrangements, and regulations to achieve voting even where there are complexities. Contact Dean Reese or Gallant, or Shelley Palmer in the CGE on any questions related to voting plans.
